needs information on her great-grandfather, Dr. William C. ZIEPRECHT, who was aboard a German ship docked in New Orleans (circa 1847) to help the Yellow Fever victims.   When the ship left, he went AWOL and stayed in New Orleans until about 1850 when he went up the river and settled in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.  William C. ZIEPRECHT was married and became a widower probably in New Orleans.  He then married a widow with 2 children and at age 55, fathered my grandfather.   He continued to practice medicine in the United States.

is seeking information on Johann (Jacques) Michel (ZEHRINGUE) ZERINGUE who was from Franconia Bavaria and arrived in Louisiana on December 14, 1720.  Does anyone have any information on his life in New Orleans between 1725-1738?   It is believed that he died September 4, 1738.  A succession document, dated December 14, 1739 was written in French.   I would like to have an English version of this document and am particularly interested in finding out about the 16 enslaved individuals listed in the inventory of this succession.   Mainly:  Levielle and Fanchon and her six children, one female and five males.   When and how did these individuals come into his possession?  In the 1731 census, Jacque Michel ZERINGUE was in possession of 12 male slaves and 4 females.   How, within 10 years of arriving in Louisiana, was a contracted worker able to acquire land, slaves and five sons?  It is my understanding that he was listed as a master carpenter and built the St. Louis Church in New Orleans and that he was the progenitor of the ZERINGUE family in Louisiana.   I would greatly appreciate any information on the above.
CORRECTION In the September 2007 issue of Les Voyageurs, page 159, in the article entitled "Amelia Dupuy Duhé" on child no. 5, Justinien Duhé, please make the following correction:   Adele Ory died September 12, 1952 (not 1852).   Correction sent by Corinne Robert
